MSU To Host Free Symposium On Movement Disorder

Free Panel On Management Of Parkinson's Disease Available To Public
MSU Department of Neurology & Ophthalmology will be hosting a 6-hour CME Movement Disorder Conference on Friday, Sept. 20, 2019, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for physicians followed by a 1.5-hour free patient event at the Kellogg Hotel & Conference Center.
The symposium is a collaboration between Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and Human Medicine Continuing Medical Education.
MSU faculty providers will be presenting on topics such as Pharmacotherapy of Parkinson’s Disease, Dystonia Genetics and research, Outpatient Management of Functional Movement Disorders, Pediatric Movement Disorders and Management of Spasticity.
Physicians will learn to correctly diagnose a variety of movement disorders, manage patients with a movement disorder and improve patient outcomes and quality of life.
"The MSU Movement Disorders Conference is an extremely valuable resource available to physicians and healthcare providers in the state," said Christos Sidiropoulos, MD, one of the event’s organizers. "Not only will they get to hear experts in the field speak on common movement disorders, they’ll also have the opportunity to earn credits in continuing medical education."
Sidiropoulos is a board-certified neurologist with special training in movement disorders who has presented on topics such as Dystonia at the Movement Disorders Symposium in previous years. He’s now one of the organizers of this year’s event.
Physicians and other healthcare providers are able to attend a variety of different presentations from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The public is invited to attend a free question and answer event with a panel of specialists assembled from across the state to learn about current medical and surgical management of Parkinson’s disease from 3 p.m. to 4:45 p.m.
